Natural and lab-grown are two separate lines here, never mixed on one certificate or one price list.

Cushions are the softened square: four rounded corners, a pillow outline, and a facet pattern that ranges from big chunky flashes to a fine glitter. That range is the whole story with this shape. Two stones can share a report line for line and look nothing alike across a counter.

The shape sits in a useful spot for the trade. It reads antique enough for a vintage-leaning client and modern enough for a halo, and it costs less per carat than a round of comparable quality. Bezel work, split-shank settings, and three-stone jobs with trapezoid or half moon sides all live comfortably here.

We carry over 300 natural cushions and over 1,800 lab-grown cushions. Nearly 1,000 of the lab cushions are three carats and up, so the large-stone end is genuinely deep rather than a handful of leftovers. Natural cushions cluster harder in the one to two carat range, which tracks what the natural market actually produces.

Buying Cushion Diamonds Wholesale

Learn to read crushed ice against chunky before you buy anything. Crushed ice cushions scatter light into small pinpoints and hide inclusions well, which lets you buy a lower clarity and get away with it. Chunky cushions throw broad flashes, look more antique, and show everything inside them. Neither is better. They sell to different clients, and a jeweler who orders the wrong one gets it back.

The report tells you more than people realize. Cushion Brilliant and Cushion Modified Brilliant are different lines on a grading report, and the modified version is usually the crushed ice look. If you are buying sight unseen for a client who asked for a vintage feel, that one word decides whether the stone is right.

Cushions can carry weight in the belly where you cannot see it. Check depth percentage and compare millimeter spread against weight before you commit, because a deep cushion faces up a full size smaller than its carat suggests. Corners matter too: sharply rounded corners hold up in setting, tight ones chip.

Our natural cushions are almost entirely GIA graded and the lab cushions almost entirely IGI. If you are building earrings or a matched three stone, note that all pairs in stock today are lab-grown, so a natural pair means matching two singles by hand.

Length-to-Width Ratio

A square cushion runs 1.00 to 1.05 length to width. That is what a client means when they ask for a cushion without qualifying it.

From 1.10 to 1.20 you get the slightly rectangular look that flatters most hands and still sets into square heads with minor adjustment.

Past 1.25 you are in long cushion territory, which is a different buy and a different client. We keep a separate natural shelf for those.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a crushed ice and a chunky cushion?

Crushed ice cushions break light into many small pinpoints, chunky cushions return it in a few broad flashes. The difference comes from facet size and pavilion pattern, not from quality. Crushed ice conceals inclusions and body color better, chunky reads more antique and shows more contrast, so pick by what the client asked for.

Do cushion cuts hide inclusions better than other shapes?

Crushed ice cushions hide inclusions better than almost anything, which is why a well chosen SI stone can face clean. Chunky cushions do the opposite and behave more like a step cut. Read which pattern you are looking at before you decide how much clarity you actually need to pay for.

How many large cushion cut diamonds do you stock?

Nearly 1,000 of our lab-grown cushions are three carats and up. That end of the shelf turns over steadily, so filter the live list rather than working from a saved search. On the natural line, the depth sits in the one to two carat range instead.

Can I buy cushion cut diamonds wholesale without a storefront?

Yes, if you buy for the trade. Independent designers, custom houses, and dealers all qualify for an account alongside brick and mortar jewelers. Registration is free, prices appear once you sign in, and we can put together a parcel by phone if you need several stones in one size band.
