Nothing forgives less than a heart. Two lobes that have to match, a cleft that has to be sharp and centered, and a point at the bottom that has to line up with the notch at the top. Get any of it wrong by a fraction and the stone looks lopsided from across a room.
Because of that, the shape is a small and specific business. Pendants and anniversary pieces carry most of the volume, with occasional bridal. The buyers who want it are not shopping ratios or cut grades. They are looking at the outline, which means your job at wholesale is to buy on shape and let the grades follow.
Over 120 natural and over 570 lab-grown hearts are available now. Hearts need size to read as hearts, and our stock reflects that: the shelf effectively starts around half a carat and most of it sits at a carat and up. Below that the outline stops being legible once it is set.
Buying Heart Diamonds Wholesale
Look at it straight on and cover half. The two lobes should be the same height, the same width, and the same curve. Then check the cleft between them. It should be a clean, defined notch, not a soft dip. A shallow cleft is what makes a cheap heart look like a badly cut pear.
The point at the bottom carries the same risk as any pointed shape. Check the plot for chips or naturals at the tip, and set it in a V-prong or a bezel. Also confirm the point sits on the centerline. If the cleft and the point are not on the same axis the stone will look tilted no matter how the setter turns it.
Size matters more here than in any other shape. Under half a carat the lobes and cleft compress until the outline stops reading, especially once prongs cover part of the edge. If a client wants a small heart, push toward a carat or use a bezel that traces the outline.
Certification splits the usual way, GIA on nearly all natural hearts and IGI on nearly all lab hearts. For pendant pairs or a matched set, note that all pairs on the floor are lab-grown, and matching two hearts on outline is harder than matching two of anything else.
Length-to-Width Ratio
Hearts want a length to width close to 1.00, with roughly 0.95 to 1.05 covering nearly everything that looks right.
Wider than 0.95 and the stone reads squat and heavy. Longer than 1.05 and it starts drifting toward a pear with a notch cut in it.

What should you look for in a heart shape diamond?
Symmetry, in this order: matching lobes, a sharp centered cleft, and a bottom point aligned with the cleft on the same axis. These are visual checks made from a straight-on image, not report values. Grading reports say very little about whether a heart actually looks like a heart.

Yes, and matched pairs are the easier route than assembling two singles. Every pair currently in stock is lab-grown, already matched on weight, color, clarity, and outline. Matching hearts by hand is the hardest matching job in the shape list, so start from a pair whenever the design allows it.
